New business?
Are you currently in business? Do you want to start your own business? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you really need to read this book, "The E-Myth Revisted" by Michael E. Gerber. I think it's the best business book I have ever read. I think it ought to be required reading in college, especially for business majors.
Many people think that just because they are good at something or have some cool product to sell that they should just jump into their own business. There are so many things to consider.... I won't even try to list them all here. I know that I made some of the mistakes that were discussed in the book, with my photography business.
One thing that is so interesting about this book is that it discusses why McDonalds is so successful. No matter how you feel about McDonalds, you can't argue with its success. Even if you aren't a business person, this is a really interesting book. Check it out....

Sold!
I was asked to donate something to the silent auction at our annual Cattlemens dinner. I picked this photo that I took about 5 years ago. It turned out to be a hot selling item. I sold it 3 times.... Actually only the original copy was sold in the silent auction, but the two other bidders asked if they could get a copy also. In exchange for a donation made to the silent auction, I ordered two more copies.

A fav action shot of the day...
The 5th annual group shot....
The boss looks like he's directing, but he's actually counting the calves as they come into the pen....
There are a whole lot more photos on my Facebook page....

To the ranch...
My sister and her family were here over the weekend. We thought it would be fun to take the little girls to the ranch to see the baby lambs...
J.T. was more interested in taking Uncle Jeff for a ride...
First we met Rosie, one of the guard dogs....
Our second set of triplets for the season....
Michela wanted to pet the lamb....
Francesca wasn't quite so sure...
Michela wants to be a photographer... makes her Auntie so proud!

Happy Valentines Day!
Different people have all kinds of opinions and feelings about Valentines Day. Some people think it's the greatest day and have expectations of gifts, flowers, cards, etc. Some people loathe the day. I am fairly neutral. It's fun to see the kids get their cards ready for their classmates. In some ways, it's not a bad thing that they have to give one to everyone, even the kids they aren't crazy about.
Andy and I never do much for Valentines Day, in terms of gifts or activities. I am totally okay with that. I would rather save the money and go on a trip for a few days anyway. The highlight of my Valentines Day is that every single year I get a card from my Dad. He's not a shopper so I really appreciate his effort of picking out cards for me and the kids. Thanks Dad! :)
