1st snow

This was taken about 6 years ago in Tahoe. It was the first time for both kids in the snow. We were there celebrating my Dad's 60th birthday.

Old Farmer's Advice

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.

Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.

Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.

Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.

Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.

You cannot unsay a cruel word.

Every path has a few puddles.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.

Don 't judge folks by their relatives.

Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

Live a good, honorable life...

Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.

Don 't interfere with somethin' that ain't bothering you none.

Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a Rain dance.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.

Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.

Always drink upstream from the herd.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.

Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.

If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around..

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

Memory lane

I am having a hard time thinking of things to write about on here so I thought I would do a little trip down memory lane... join me!

Weddings

Sandi and I are excited to have booked a couple of weddings for this coming year and would love to do even more. If you are, or know someone that is, getting married, check out our website.

Move-over in California

*I received this an email. It was written by a friend of a friend.*

In California, the "Move-over" law became effective January 1, 2010. The cost of the ticket was $754, with 3 points on your license and a mandatory court appearance

Important Law to Share:
I wanted to let my Medlock Bridge neighbors know about the CA move over law. My son got a ticket on Pleasant Hill coming back from Wal-Mart. A Duluth police car (turned out it was 2 police cars) was on the side of the road giving a ticket to someone else. My son slowed down to pass but did not move into the other lane. The second police car immediately pulled him over and gave him a ticket. My son and I had never heard of the law.

It is a fairly new law that states if any emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, if you are able, you are to move into the next lane. If you can't move over, slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit.

The cost of the ticket was $754, with 3 points on your license and a mandatory court appearance.

Please let everyone you know that drives about this new law. All but two states in the US (even Canada ) enacted similar kind of law.

Michela

I went to visit Michela, Mary and Jeff this past weekend. It was such a great weekend. I got to babysit Michela on Friday night so Mary and Jeff could go to a retirement party in San Francisco. Then on Saturday, Mary and I had a great day together. She treated me to a pedicure (my feet say thanks!). Then we had a great sushi lunch and a little shopping. I came home on Sunday.

Here are a few photos of Michela, especially for my Mom and Dad, who miss her like crazy!! (please ignore the weird color casts... not sure why it looks like that here!)

I used to be....

a dedicated scrapbooker! It was definitely my creative outlet. My friend Sara and I would go to these scrapbook nights at the store in McKinleyville. We would stay up until midnight or later creating books for our kids.

Obviously my creative outlet is now photography and I would much rather create a page in Photoshop. So, that's what I plan to do. I have scrapbooks for Abigail through her 7th birthday. Just to be fair, I plan to get J.T. to that point too. Then I will decide if I want to continue. For now, I will create all my pages in Photoshop with my photos and digital scrapbooking files. I have digital paper and embellishments so I can create some pretty cool stuff. Then I plan to print them on 12x12 photo paper and put them in the books.

I will let you know how it goes...

Anyone else a "used-to-be" scrapbooker?

A couple wedding photos

I am in the process of scanning all of my and Andy's wedding negatives in so I can make a wedding book for us. It is quite a process.... each one has to be placed and scanned individually. Then I have to do some straightening and lightening of each image. I have only done about 40 but I wanted to share a couple, just for fun...

I don't think I look all that much different, but Andy sure looks young!
